The Art of Repoussé
Repoussé is the ancient art of raising metal by hammering from the reverse side to create a three dimensional design. At Reeth, we use this technique to transform flat sheets of brass into textured landscapes of light and shadow. Each piece is worked entirely by hand, capturing the rhythm of the artisan strike and the energy of the studio. It is a slow, intentional process that results in a singular work of art where no two surfaces are ever identical.
THE LINEAGE
The Essence: A study in power, strength, and protection. This design is rooted in the sacred geometry of the central tree of life, flanked by guarding peacocks and regal elephants. It is a dense, high relief composition designed to serve as the ceremonial anchor of a space, a piece that feels like it has guarded a lineage for centuries.
THE RHYTHM
The Essence: A visual dialogue between organic grace and architectural precision. This design features the fluid silhouettes of peacocks nestled within winding vines, set against a backdrop of bold, geometric lines. It is a rhythmic exploration of nature meeting structure, where the soft energy of life is balanced by the sharp clarity of form. A statement of modern heritage, this piece captures the tension between the ancient soul and the contemporary world.
THE TIDE
The Essence: An ethereal odyssey in brass. This design transcends the physical world to depict a celestial sky where winged horses and mythical beings glide through a sea of liquid metal. The rhythmic, undulating waves create a sense of vast, infinite movement, while the celestial symbols anchor the narrative in a cosmic cycle of sun and moon.It is an expansive, cinematic work of art, designed for grand spaces that require a story of wonder, aspiration, and the weight of another realm.
From The Hammer To The Horizon
Each panel begins as a flat, 18 gauge sheet of brass. Using only hand forged steel tools and a chasing hammer, the artisan slowly pushes the design forward. There are no machines, no stamps, and no shortcuts. A single square foot of Reeth Repoussé can represent over 40 hours of manual dedication.
We leave the evidence of this rhythmic struggle on the surface, ensuring that the finished work vibrates with energy.
As the light in a room changes, these high relief textures capture and release shadows in a constant, slow dance.
Structural Integrity
Every Reeth Repoussé panel is reinforced with a concealed, lightweight frame to deliver absolute structural stability and a perfectly flush mount. We provide custom installation guides and technical specifications for every commission, ensuring your work is as permanent as the architecture it inhabits.
